The Impossible Consolidation

My business partner, Dan, has a vision. He sees the next stage in applications being a consolidation of content providers’ content by applications.

It’s a nice vision, where videos from iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon are all accessed from the same application on the same device. It’s also an impossible dream.

Corporations do not like to share their space. Branding has changed from a way to identify particular items, to an in-your-face market spew. Even in mobile, where the time between starting and using an application should be as short as possible, splashscreens are the de-facto means of “branding”.
